No water (at all) coming out of my Atwood.

Hi. I have an Atwood 6 gallon propane only hot water heater. For a while now it seemed like I wasn't actually getting 6 gallons of hot water, but all of a sudden I stopped getting any hot water at all. This, of course, happened in the middle of a shower. There is also no water at all when I turn on the hot water in the kitchen sink. Cold water is running fine. If I close the bypass valve to the hot water tank, I get water out of the hot faucets, but of course, it is cold water. I suspect a block in a tube somewhere. Or perhaps in the tank itself. But how can I remedy this? Once the tubes run under the kitchen cabinet, I lose sight of them, so I don't know if there are other valves or not. Perhaps underneath the RV? Please help! Thank you!

The problem was the back flow preventer valve on the top of the water heater. It was either clogged or broken. I was able to get hot water temporarily by pulling it's plastic valve completely out and replacing it. That worked, but I didn't want to leave it like that, so I ordered a new one. It wasn't easy to find one. I had to order it on the internet, because I couldn't find one at any of the local hardware stores that would fit.

starstarstar 		What I tried to do so far to fix my Atwood water heater.

This morning I got up bright and early and went out and took the anode rod out of the Atwood and drained the tank. I keep spare plastic plugs handy because I had one blow out of the hole once. I flushed the tank, but probably not really well enough, because I am kind of in a hurry for an appointment this morning. Actually I just flushed it enough to determine that the tank was actually receiving water. And, yes it is. And the heater fires up just fine. But I still have NO WATER coming out of the hot side faucets. (Any of them.) With the city water off, I also turned on the water pump and opened the faucets and could really hear what was going on inside the tank that way, but still no water on the hot side.

On the way home this afternoon, I will pick up some vinegar and see if I can find one of those magic tools that lets you flush the inside of the tank. The hot water outlet from the tank to the faucets seems to be on the top of the tank toward the inside of the rig, under the stove, and suspect that is where the problem is.
