Zojirushi Water Warmers and Boilers: Buying Tips

Zojirushi water warmers and boilers are small electric kitchen appliances used to heat water in residential homes and small businesses while keeping the hot water at the constant temperature for a long time.

Water warmers and boilers are not heating water fast; they are designed to “keep the water at a steady temperature all day long.” Once the hot water is ready, it can be used immediately or any time of the day, mostly for preparing any type of tea, coffee, drinks, or meal.

There is no installation required. As the models come with the detachable power supply cord, you just have to plug it in the outlet and set your favorite mode.

Zojirushi water warmers and boilers: Models review

Zojirushi warmers and boilers are grouped in several categories, offering models different in style, features, power consumption, and tank size, ranging from 2.2 to a maximum of 4 liters.

When buying the best model from Zojirushi, you should look for the material quality, insulation system, how many options and heating modes it offers, tank capacity, how long it can keep the water hot, how fast it can heat, and how long it can heat and what are the savings.

Here is the selection of the popular Zojirushi models:

  • VE Hybrid
  • Panorama Window
  • Micom
  • Micom Super Boiler

VE Hybrid - CV-DCC40/50

Zojirushi model CV-DCC40 is one of the smallest models from the VE Hybrid series, designed compact and lightweight, sizing 8-3/4 x 11-1/8 x 13-7/8 inches and providing up to 4 liters of hot water for kitchen use mainly. The Zojirushi CV-DCC50 model is the larger model, by almost two inches taller, one pound heavier, and has one-liter greater capacity. These are made of stainless steel.

Some of the interesting features found on VE Hybrid models (also models from other series – see below) are the water level gauge so you can always check how much hot water is left, electric dispense button, swivel base, and spout to dispense hot water easier and without spilling. The control panel controls and monitors the heating process, temperature settings, and operating modes. This is the place where you would power the unit, change the temperature or heating mode, check the temperature on a display, set the timer, check the status, and see if there is an issue.

There are several heating modes available for your convenience:

  • Keep Warm mode – in this mode; you can set four temperature settings: 160, 175, 195, and 208 F.
  • Vacuum mode – this mode turns off the unit when the water reaches boiling point (212 F), and once it is off, it will use the thermal insulation to keep the water hot longer while saving energy.
  • Quick Temp mode or Reboil mode allows users to reach a temperature of up to 195 F without reaching a boil. The device will reach the set temperature faster without wasting too much energy or time.
  • Regular Boil mode – this is a default mode.
  • Café Drip dispensing mode – this is the mode where the amount of water you want to dispense can be reduced to 60% of the normal setting, letting you brew a coffee, for example.

The boilers can reach the temperature of 195 F in about 60-80 minutes and boil water in approximately 35 minutes for a smaller model and 40 minutes for the DCC50. During the Keep Warm mode, at the temperature of 195 F, the power consumption is very low - 16 and 22 W, depending on the model.

Panorama Window - CD-LFC30/40/50

Most of the features are the same as the VE Hybrid series, but Panorama offers one model with a smaller capacity of 3 liters – CD-LF30, and instead of stainless steel, it is offered in a white finish. The heating modes are also the same, except the Vacuum mode for keeping the hot water longer, which is not provided.

The boilers can reach the temperature of 195 F in about 35 minutes and boil water in approximately 28 minutes for a smaller model and 45 minutes for the largest LFC50. During the Keep Warm mode, at the temperature of 195 F, the power consumption is in the range of 39 to 50 W, depending on the model.

Micom

The Micom group of Zojirushi water boilers and warmers is the most extensive group, offering several slightly different models with up to three tank capacities.

Micom CD-JWC30/40 models, when compared to the VE series, come in two tank sizes; 3 and 4-liters; they do not include the Vacuum mode and have an option to choose three instead of four temperature settings in the Keep Warm mode; the temperature of 160 F is excluded from these models, so as the Melody Signal sound.

The boilers can reach the temperature of 195 F in about 30 minutes and boil water in approximately 27 minutes for a smaller model and 35 minutes for the larger Micom JWC40. During the Keep Warm mode, at the temperature of 195 F, the power consumption is approximately 38 and 43 W, depending on the model.

Micom CD-WCC30/40 are the 3- and 4-liter models offered with the wide window water level gauge and without the Vacuum mode.

The boilers can reach the temperature of 195 F in about 25 minutes and boil water in approximately 31 minutes for a smaller model and 39 minutes for WCC40. During the Keep Warm mode, at the temperature of 195 F, the power consumption is approximately 34 and 40 W, depending on the model.

Micom CD-WHC40 is the 4-liter warmer and boiler that comes with features similar to the above VE Hybrid series, but instead of Panorama window water level gauge includes the wide window water level gauge. It doesn’t include the Vacuum mode and magnetic detachable power cord, but has inside of the tank coated and detachable power cord.

The boiler can reach a temperature of 195 F in about 25 minutes and boil water in approximately 39 minutes. During the Keep Warm mode, at the temperature of 195 F, the power consumption is around 40 W.

Micom Super Boiler

The Super Boiler models – CW-PZC22/30 are the basic models as they don’t include most of the features found in the previous ones. For example, warmers use the hand pumping system to dispense hot water, while others use a one-touch electric button. The control panel is also simplified, offering only two buttons: Cleaning/Descaling and Reboil, with two indicator lamps.

It takes approximately 23-26 minutes for PZC22 to boil water and about 29-32 minutes for the larger one.

Such a plain design makes the Super Boiler the most affordable model from Zojirushi. They are sold with the 2.2- and 3-liter tank capacity.

Choose the model which has a one-touch electric dispensing system for added convenience.
