Still heating water after 15 years

Hi - we are in the market for a new water heater and Bradford White is at the top of our list. Ours is a 55 gallon gas water heater that is 3 months from turning 15 years old. We had an incident a few years ago, but, Bradford White shipped us a replacement combustion chamber and a plumber installed the replacement very quickly. A friend told us we're on borrowed time with the current water heater and that we should take advantage of the luxury of being able to shop around instead of having to make a hasty decision.
