Looking to take control of your Noritz tankless water heater?
This step-by-step guide will show you how to install and use the Noritz remote controller RC-7646M-2. With this remote controller, you can easily adjust the temperature, monitor your water heating operation, and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
Let's get started!
The Noritz remote controller RC-7646M-2 is a handy device that allows you to change the temperature, monitor water heating operation, and troubleshoot problems.
The controller comes with a digital display that shows the actual exiting hot water temperature in Fahrenheit or the water flow rate in gallons.
Additionally, it features an indicator that shows when the burner is on and a priority indicator that lets you set the hot water temperature. If you encounter a problem with your water heater, an error code (such as 11, 90, 99, etc.) will appear on the display.
You can find a list of all error codes commonly found on Noritz tankless water heaters.
The temperature setting buttons on the controller are labeled as the up and down arrows, and they allow you to adjust the hot water temperature at the exit of the heat exchanger and water heater, and to set the flow meter alarm. It's worth noting that the unit is preset at 110°F when new.
The power button serves a dual purpose - it can be used to turn the water heater ON or OFF, as well as to mute the sound by holding it down for five seconds.
The flow meter alarm set button triggers the alarm after the preselected volume of water, in gallons, is delivered by the Noritz tankless water heater.
The remote should be installed in an easily accessible location and not exposed to water, steam, and chemicals, or direct sunlight. It can be installed outdoors but in the waterproof box since the unit is only water-resistant, not waterproof.
Either you are using one or two Noritz water heaters (using the Quick Connect Multi-System), only one remote controller should be installed (to one unit).
When the water flow reaches the set level, the alarm will sound for ten seconds. Stop the water manually, or it will continue running (the burner ON light is OFF). You can set the water flow from 10 gallons to the maximum of 990 gallons, with the 5 and 10 intervals. This great feature can be used, for example, to indicate when a hot tub is full (if hot water is not used for another application).
To troubleshoot problems with your Noritz tankless water heater, the remote controller can be a helpful tool. When a problem occurs, a numerical error code will flash on the controller's display, along with the priority light and On/Off button.
You can refer to the Noritz error code list for more information on how to diagnose and fix the issue.
