should be named POS 2000 ( guess what position stands for )

should be named POS 2000 ( guess what position stands for )

My Rinnai sucks,Unit had to be placed far from the kitchen and bathroom due to severe limitations for venting etc. Now it takes forever to get hot water. When taking a shower it goes from hot to cold, hot to cold, hot to cold constantly. Now the 2 year old unit is not working at all. Leaving me with NO HEAT OR HOT WATER in December in upstate NY. Needless to say I am not happy. I will never buy another one !

RINNAI - SERIOUS COMBUSTION ISSUES !!
by: Anonymous - Conway, SC

One-year-old RL75i unit installed during house construction by local propane company(not sure if certified by Rinnai). The unit has and continues to exhausted (discharge) tar-like, carbon particulate on vehicles, house siding, and into the atmosphere. Numerous calls to Rinnai and Palmetto propane and several visits to diagnose the problem has resulted in"0" resolution to this serious environmental and TAR-LIKE, UNBURN'T CARBON DISCHARGE into the atmosphere and on our new home.

RECOMMEND REVIEW OTHER (RHEEM, AO SMITH, BOSCH) UNIT MANUFACTURERS BEFORE BUYING Rinnai.

spent $10,000 on this system which was supposed to be reliable and efficient...the only thing that was reliable was the times it would break down....lasted 5 years then the main control board went...$800 let's see how long it runs now...

That is how they are, trash
by: Gerry

I have had one for 8 years. The expansion tank is always blown. The problem with the water going hot and cold is something mine does. Mine has done it while I was in the cellar and heard my wife scream. I look over and it just stopped heating the water. I looked at the furnace. It had forgotten it was supposed to be heating water and stopped. She had to shut off the hot water and turn it back on. Sometimes it restarts on its own. Other times I have to shut off the faucet and turn it on again and tada all better. This happens all the time.

8 years of this. I wish this train wreck would die so I can justify replacing it again.

Common with any tankless
by: Anonymous

common sense tells us that if you put a water heater far from a faucet, it will take a while to get hot water. Sounds to me like your installer should have given you better advice. If you would have gotten the RUR98 with a circulation pump, you would not have had any of those bad experiences.
